Writing
Harrison Roday is a business and nonprofit leader based in Central Virginia.Since getting his start in public service working alongside then-Governor Tim Kaine during his first campaign for the United States Senate, Harrison’s professional experience in the world of finance gave him the tools and resources he needed to work with organizations focusing on creating an economy that works for everybody. This includes Bridging Virginia, a nonprofit community development fund that Harrison founded in 2020, providing access to capital for Black, women, minority-owned small businesses. He also serves as Chair of the Board at Foodshed Capital, another nonprofit community lender that works primarily with BIPOC farmers and entrepreneurs as a way to build more equitable, regenerative foodsheds – particularly in communities that have historically faced difficulty accessing capital through traditional lenders.Harrison has encouraged public officials and other business leaders to align their resources to promote more equal access to economic opportunity. In the world of progressive politics, Harrison has also worked for years to elect Democrats to the Virginia General Assembly and in the halls of Congress. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Roe Your Vote Virginia, a PAC supporting pro-choice candidates in the Virginia legislative races, and on the Founding Advisory Board of We the People for Education, a Virginia-focused nonprofit focused on electing School Board candidates who push back against recent waves of right-wing divisiveness and extremism. He ran for Mayor of Richmond in 2024.
